The tournament began in 2016 when VFTCB social media pages became heated over a list of recommended pizza shops, and the organization took the opportunity to create a community-involved contest. Over the last five years, the bracket-style tournament has grown from 32 pizza shops to 64 participating across 49 townships and boroughs in Montgomery County. Past winners include Chiaro’s Pizzeria & Restaurant (2016, 2017), Bravo Pizza (2018), and Via Veneto (2019).
