Embark on Outdoor Adventures

With vast green spaces and over 90 miles of hiking trails, Montco is a prime spot for exciting outdoor adventures

In the warmer months, pack a picnic lunch and spend the day hiking or biking the extensive trails weaving through Valley Forge National Historical ParkEvansburg State Park, or Central Perkiomen Valley ParkFort Washington State Park is another popular spot for hiking and wildlife observation, with various butterflies and birds visible from the Hawk Watch Observation Deck. Plus, there are several dog-friendly parks across Montco.

For a memorable riverwalk with lots of mileage, hop on the Schuylkill River Trail, 18 miles of the trail is located within Montco. The multi-use trail runs from Philadelphia to Mont Clare and weaves through Valley Forge Park. To enjoy the full range of outdoor activities, visit Green Lane Park for fishing, boating, mountain biking, and horseback riding. And the fun doesn’t stop in the winter as multiple locations, including Spring Mountain, offer cross-country skiing and other winter activities.

Enjoy a Concert or Show

Montco is a destination for art and theater lovers who will quickly find their place in the incredible arts and culture scene.

Wander past displays of religious artwork in the stunning Glencairn Museum, or marvel at American artwork showcased at the Berman Museum of Art. A tram ride at the American Treasure Tour Museum takes you through a vast collection of muscle cars, music, and Americana memorabilia. 

And for some of the best live shows, enjoy a theater performance or music concert at one of the many local venues, such as The Centre TheaterMethacton Community TheaterKeswick TheatrePlaycrafters of Skippack, and Ardmore Music Hall.

Both Valley Forge and Montco offer countless opportunities to immerse yourself in history. While Valley Forge Park is the most famous local historical attraction, there are plenty of other places to experience the nation’s history. 

You can admire incredible Gothic-style architecture in the Bryn Athyn Historic District, go on a tour of historic homes, such as Hope Lodge and the Peter Wentz Farmstead, and visit Revolutionary War-era sites in Historic Trappe. The list is endless!
