Annual Events In Valley Forge And King Of Prussia, PA.

Valley Forge and King of Prussia are closely tied, with Valley Forge National Historical Park hosting many of the area's largest community events. Here are some of the most popular annual events in the King of Prussia area:

JOIN THE CONTINENTAL ARMY

January - April

Children are invited to "Join the Continental Army" and experience a day in the life of the continental soldier. Training sessions are held on the first Saturday of every month from January through April. Come to one, two or all four of the sessions to learn basic drills and commands from the Army's officers.

WASHINGTON'S BIRTHDAY PARTY

February 

Valley Forge was the site of the first public birthday celebration for George Washington. In past years, the park celebrates Washington's birthday with a full day of activities that include games and crafts, a chance for kids to join the Continental Army, and the ceremonial cake cutting. This year all events will be held virtually. More information to come.

King of Prussia’s restaurant and retail community come together each year for a special week of savings and fundraising for Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). In 9 years, this dining and shopping event has raised over $366,000 for CHOP!  

VALLEY FORGE REVOLUTIONARY 5-MILE RUN

April

Runners, walkers and supporters from across the region come together for the annual Valley Forge Revolutionary 5-Mile Run®. The namesake race takes runners across the challenging terrain of the park, testing their speed and endurance. A three-mile walk and an outdoor expo are all part of the day's activities.

JULY 4TH COMMUNITY PICNIC IN THE PARK

Celebrate our nation's Independence at Valley Forge National Historical Park. The annual community picnic includes games and crafts for the kids, a cook-out at the Visitor Center, artillery demonstrations, readings of the Declaration of Independence and guided park tours.

EVENING CARILLON CONCERTS

Wednesdays in July & August

The bells of the Washington Memorial Chapel fill the air with music every Wednesday in July and August. Starting at 7:30 p.m., the weekly carillon concerts feature musicians from around the world including the Netherlands, Belgium and Australia.

NATIONAL PUBLIC LANDS DAY

September 

National Public Lands Day is an opportunity to help make Valley Forge National Historical Park a better place for visitors. Valley Forge is one of more than 2,000 sites across the country that will be welcoming volunteers to lend a hand in environmental and maintenance projects.

VETERANS DAY COMMEMORATION

November 

Valley Forge National Historical Park honors our nation's military veterans during the annual Veterans Day Commemoration. The event includes a commemoration service at the United States National Memorial Arch as well as interpretive programs and special park tours.

Valley Forge National Historical Park

Valley Forge National Historical Park marks the historic day when the Continental Army arrived onsite in 1777, beginning one of the most famous encampments in U.S. history. The evening's free family-friendly program blends historic programming with holiday honors. On the schedule are speeches by General Washington himself, the debut of a new defensive fort on the Muhlenberg Brigade and festive singing and dancing from the Colonial Revelers.
