5-Mile Run

Q: What time does the race start?

A: Gun time for the run is 8:30am SHARP! The walk start time is immediately following the run start, approx. 8:40 a.m.

Q: Where do I park/ how do I get to the Start?
 
A: Parking for the event is located at 1000 First Ave, (1 mile from the Park).  Shuttle buses will be operating from 6:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. to take participants and spectators to and from the Park. Shuttle transport will be suspended from 7:45 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. during the running of the race. The first shuttle back to the parking lot from the park will leave at 10:30. This service needs to be suspended during the event, as the course crosses over the entrance/exit road.
 
Q: Can I pick up my bib and t shirt on race morning (April 21st)?
 
A: No. There is no race day pick up.  All items must be either shipped (by deadline given) or picked up during the packet pick up hours.

Q: I'm a runner from out-of-town/state, where can I stay overnight?
 
A: Before traversing through the scenic Valley Forge National Historical Park, plan ahead and book your room at a hotel near the Park.
 
Q: Is there a time limit?
 
A:  The 5 mile course must be completed at an 18 minute per mile pace. The National Park Service limits the time we can close the roads.  

Q: Can I walk the 5 mile Race?
 
A: The 5 mile course is a running race. There is a time limit for the course. If you wish to walk, please select the walk event. 

The walk starts immediately after all runners have left the start. It's an out and back course totaling 2 miles.

Q: Are dogs or strollers permitted on race course?
 
A: No. Dogs and strollers are not permitted on the 5 mile race course. They are, however, permitted on the 2 mile walk.

Q: Can I bring my dog and/or stroller on the shuttle bus?
 
A: No. Dogs and strollers are not permitted on the shuttle buses. However, a parking pass can be provided to those who have strollers or dogs and are participating in the WALK event. Parking passes are limited and are provided for registrants who need onsite parking at VFNHP. If you require a parking pass, and did not request one during the Walk Registration please contact the Race Director, Kirsten Tallman at tallman@valleyforge.org

Q: Are there age groups?
 
A: Yes. See below for the age groups. 

Age Groups: 9-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84

Q:  How does the virtual run work?

A:  Once you register for the virtual event, the next step is to complete the 5 mile distance and earn your finisher medal. The 5 miles that you register for can be completed at any location of your choice, and with the Race Anywhere option can even be completed indoors on a treadmill! You have from April 13th until April 20th to complete your event

Q:  Where do my participation fees go?
 
A:  After expenses are paid (t-shirt, medal, shipping, etc.) all proceeds will go to Valley Forge National Historical Park for visitor experience and programming enhancements. You are making a difference for those who will come to experience the park and its awesomeness long after you logged your miles.


How Will You Conquer the Valley?

It is an honor and a privilege to serve this community and park. Together, we make a difference and we hope you’ll Conquer the Valley with us in 2024. This event will take place rain or shine. Due to limited parking and course safety-Parking is located off site with shuttle service beginning at 6:30 AM.

Pick your course! Run your 5-mile race anywhere in the world between April 21 – April 28 2024. After completing the race, results should be submitted through your RunSignUp profile.
