Celebrate America with us on Monday, June 29 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to kick off America's 250th birthday celebration and the 50th anniversary of Valley Forge National Park.
The free event will feature food trucks, photo ops, and family-friendly fun!

Back to Top of ListCelebrate Independence Day 2026 in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, where the spirit of 1776 comes alive through the Houses of Declaration, a signature semiquincentennial experience. In the 1700s, the Declaration of Independence spread through public readings in town squares and taverns, inspiring debate and unity across early America. This July 4th weekend, July 3-5, various Montco towns ranging from East Greenville to Bryn Mawr invite visitors to relive that moment through powerful live readings.
Across Montgomery County, historic sites, community landmarks, and local businesses will host special Declaration of Independence readings that connect families, history enthusiasts, and travelers with the story of America’s founding. Celebrate July 4th where patriotism, community, and history come together in the Houses of Declaration.

Union Pacific’s Big Boy Tour: Montco's Top Viewing

Union Pacific’s famous Big Boy No. 4014 train will be journeying through Montgomery County as it travels to Philadelphia! Catch sight of Big Boy and possibly hear its iconic whistle blow at various towns and locations throughout Montco!
On July 3rd, Bridgeport Borough will be hosting an America 250 Celebration, which will feature a Big Boy watch party. Arrive early to get the best viewing spot at 2nd and Depot St., as the train is expected to make its way through Bridgeport around 9:15 a.m.
Valley Forge National Historical Park's Birthday

In addition to the country's 250th birthday, 2026 will mark Valley Forge's 50th anniversary as a national park.
Retreat to Valley Forge over the 2026 4th of July weekend and celebrate the 50th anniversary of Valley Forge National Historical Park and the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence!
Special commemorative programs and events will take place at Valley Forge National Historical Park on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, July 3, 4, and 5, 2026.
All 4th of July events hosted by Valley Forge are free to attend. No vendor space is being offered by Valley Forge National Historical Park, and the Valley Forge Park Alliance and Washington Memorial Heritage are not seeking vendors for their events on July 3rd, 4th, and 5th.
Then the period from December 2027 to June 2028 will mark the 250th anniversary of the Valley Forge Encampment itself. As these commemorations draw near, there will be plenty of public programming to celebrate these milestones.
Planning Tip: Popular ride-hailing services like Uber and Lyft provide a convenient option for visiting and getting around Valley Forge National Historical Park. The park has cellular connectivity at most of the key historic sites and parking lots, which makes app-based ride-hailing services an effective alternative to driving a personal vehicle.
