Montco is home to tons of attractions designed with kids in mind.

One of the most beloved attractions is the Elmwood Park Zoo, where hundreds of animals from all over the world live. Here you can gaze at majestic giraffes and offer them a few lettuce leaves for lunch. In addition to the animal exhibits, kids can greet farm animals, ride the carousel, and more!

In the winter, take the whole family to Spring Mountain Adventures for a day of skiing, snowboarding, and ice skating. And if you’re visiting Spring Mountain in the fall, you won’t want to miss Scream Mountain, a hair-raising Halloween event.

There are also plenty of spots for indoor fun, like LEGOLAND Discovery Center, which features a towering exhibit of local landmarks, all made of LEGO bricks. Montco has dozens of museums and parks perfect for a family-friendly adventure.

Although Valley Forge National Historical Park is the most famous park in Montco, there are plenty of other green spaces with plenty of history and activity. 

Fort Washington State Park is where George Washington and the Continental Army built a temporary fort in the Revolutionary War. Here visitors can walk in the footsteps of George Washington, enjoy a leisurely picnic or hike, and climb the observation deck for breathtaking views of migrating birds and butterflies.

Another popular park is Green Lane Park, which extends over 3,400 acres and offers an array of outdoor activities and programs throughout the year. Plan a family camping trip, hike or go mountain biking along 25 miles of trails, or rent a boat and paddle along the Reservoir or Deep Creek Lake.

Many museums in the area also cater to families, such as the Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center and John James Audubon Center at Mill Grove, where kids can get in touch with nature and explore the fascinating world of birds.
