Cheltenham, Philadelphia’s first suburb encompasses Glenside, Elkins Park, Wyncote and La Mott Village. Cheltenham is proud of its rich history, the La Mott and Wyncote historic districts, beautiful tree-lined streets, amazing architecture and shopping districts. Cheltenham Township was founded in 1683 by Quakers who purchased land from William Penn. In the 1900s Cheltenham became home to the most famous robber barons including: Henry W. Breyer, Sr., Cyrus H.K. Curtis, William Lukins Elkins, John N. Wanamaker and P.A.B. Widener and master architects like Horace Trumbauer and Frank Lloyd Wright.
