If you are up for an outdoor adventure with your pup, Montco is the perfect place. There are more than 96 miles of hiking and walking trails in Montgomery County, PA. Valley Forge National Historical Park is a favorite for many pet owners. The park has 26 miles of trails to roam. All dogs must be leashed and remember to clean up after your pet!
The Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown also has special days and events where owners can bring their dogs on their very own zoo excursion! The Zoo’s special Dog Days and Yappy Hours allow zoo fans to bring their four-legged friends to enjoy the zoo together.
For some shopping, head to Ambler, PA, where you can stroll down Main Street and browse many stores with your pet.
Looking to grab a bite to eat? Head to Conshohocken, where you can grab a beer and enjoy a bite to eat at Conshohocken Brewing Company, which welcomes dogs on their deck overlooking the Schuylkill River Trail. The Gypsy Saloon, also in Conshohocken, has a dog-friendly menu with proceeds going to a local animal shelter.
Need help deciding to where to stay with your dog? Montco has more than 30 pet-friendly hotel to choose from. The Sheraton Valley Forge welcomes people and their pets to their hotel in King of Prussia, PA. Maximum 1 pet per room. Be sure to call ahead to make them aware of your plans.
You and your furry friend will also feel at home at the Homewood Suites by Hilton in Plymouth Meeting, PA. The rooms have plenty of space for the whole family, plus there’s a plenty of grass around the hotel and even doggie bags in a dispenser close to the front door.
And did you know? Montgomery County, PA is home to the National Dog Show. Each fall, the Kennel Club of Philadelphia’s National Dog Show is filmed at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center and aired nationally on Thanksgiving day. The show dates back to 1879 and upwards of 2,000 dogs from more than 180 different breeds are all on display.
