Valley Forge Convention and Visitors Bureau Says: It's Showtime!

The Calendar of the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center
Is Chock Full of Events That Cater to a Host of Varied Interests

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. - Golfers, boaters, gardeners, crafters, and even stamp collectors will find good reason to flock to the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center over the next several weeks. The array of exhibitions, demonstrations, sales specials, professional expertise and just plain fun is so comprehensive that the Oaks, Pa., location is sure to be bustling.

The following is a sample:

  • The Greater Philadelphia Golf Show comes to the fore February 7-9.  The local links may be too chilly to chip right now, but here's the chance to test, hit and compare the newest 2014 clubs; plan a getaway to a fabulous resort; compete in skills competitions; and receive free instruction from PGA professionals. Each paid admission includes a one-year subscription to Golf Magazine, which should suit duffers to a tee.
  • Fishermen especially will fall hook, line and sinker for the Greater Philadelphia Outdoor Sports Show, February 13-16, but the displays, gear, advice and demonstrations will also appeal to hunters, boaters, photographers, adventurers and travelers. The experience at this show is definitely hands-on, as attendees can climb a rock wall, try a kayak demo pond and even splatter targets with paintballs.
  • The info at the Suburban Home and Garden Show, February 20-23, will certainly come in handy for those upcoming home projects. Gather ideas for decorating and remodeling, stroll through gorgeous sample gardens (the scent of green grass alone will make it worth the trip), chat with experts and pick their brains for recommendations and money-saving tips.
  • For those for whom "home away from home" means literally a nest on wheels, the Greater Philadelphia RV Show, which parks itself at the Expo Center from February 27-March 2, is the chance to kick the tires on 2014's latest models. These havens range from state-of-the-art mobile mansions and highway haciendas to simpler accommodations that easily hook to the back of the family SUV.
  • In the wake of the RV show, the Greater Philadelphia Boat Show lays anchor from March 7-9. The watercraft docking in Oaks that weekend promises to be "avast" array of crafts that include saltwater fishing boats, deck boats, jet boats, runabouts, personal watercraft, pontoon boats and probably also toy boats to sail in the bathtub.
  • For over 30 years, the nation's most talented artisans have personally sold their contemporary crafts and fine art at the Sugarloaf Craft Festival, running March 14-16. Lovers of fine crafts and art will find more than 250 top artisans displaying and selling their unique creations in pottery, sculpture, glass, jewelry, fashion, home décor, furniture and home accessories, items for the garden, and photography.
  • Roaring into the Expo Center March 21-23 is the Northeast Rod & Custom Car Show. It's the fourth year for one of the most high-profile indoor car shows on the East Coast. Exhibitors spend months polishing, shining, waxing and wiping their babies so that they look their best. Roam the aisles and salivate over the custom cars, muscle cars, street rods, classics, trucks, import tuners and custom cycles, all representing the best rides in Pennsylvania and its surrounding states.
  • Philatelists young and old are sure to be glued to the 2014 Philadelphia National Stamp Exhibition, April 4-6. There, they will browse rows and rows of extraordinary examples of artistry and design including traditional, postal history, aerophilately and revenue stamps. The exhibition also has a competitive edge to it, so there is the opportunity to witness a collector being singled out on a red-letter day.
