Local Treasures Offer Specials During Museum Week April 27 through May 3
KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. - Three Montgomery County, Pa., homes with very different histories have one thing in common -- they're now museums offering special discounts as part of the region's Museum Week, April 27 through May 3.
The three are among more than 50 participating in the event throughout Philadelphia and The Countryside, produced in partnership with the American Association of Museums, and include:
Peter Wentz Farmstead in Worcester, where George Washington planned the Battle of Germantown;
Glencairn Museum in Bryn Athyn, constructed by Raymond Pitcairn to showcase his unprecedented collection of medieval art and stained glass;
and John James Audubon Center at Mill Grove in Audubon, which served as an inspiration to the French artist.
Peter Wentz Farmstead, with the Schwenkfelder Library and Heritage Center in Pennsburg, will offer free admission, as well as discounts on museum store purchases. Admission to John James Audubon Center will be discounted and Glencairn will feature a buy one, get one free admission promotion.
The Valley Forge area and Montgomery County is also home to many other great museums, including the Abington Art Center, Barnes Foundation, Berman Museum of Art at Ursinus College and the Stoogeum, devoted entirely to Larry, Curly and Moe.
