Gertrude's Garden's + Home Tour
9.1 - 9.30 | Bryn Athyn Historic District

Working with the architects Carrère & Hastings and the landscape architects Olmsted, Olmsted and Eliot, Mrs. Gertrude Pitcairn oversaw the details and vision of Cairnwood Estate. During this tour, we will take a refreshing look at the architecture, the grounds, and the grand rooms for entertaining on the first floor including the Great Hall, Music Room, Living Room, and Library, ending in the Carriage House.

Night Tours: Summer Twilight
9.1 - 9.4 | Eastern State Penitentiary Historic Site

Explore Eastern State Penitentiary's historic cellblocks as the sun goes down. Admission to Night Tours: Summer Twilight includes all daytime programming —“The Voices of Eastern State” Audio Tour; award-winning exhibits; artist installations — and more! Grab a drink and relax in The Fair Chance Beer Garden. Eastern State partners with Philadelphia’s Triple Bottom Brewing Company to offer a selection of Triple Bottom beer for purchase, including the all-new Purpose Pale Ale. Reflect on the legacy of criminal justice reform through hands-on activities. View a new, digital art installation by Andrea Walls, co-commissioned by Mural Arts Philadelphia, and projected onto Eastern State’s façade.

First Thursday: Beer & Bites
9.2 | Whole Foods Market Plymouth Meeting

Taste your way around the store on First Thursday. Local breweries sample their seasonal brews paired with made-in-store bites. Cheers!

Kayak Excursions: Petty's Island
9.4 | Independence Seaport Museum

Excursion Dates and Times vary.  Click here for a complete list. 

Must be at least 18 years of age or older to participate.

This 10-mile kayaking excursion is for the experienced paddler and nature lover.  The trek will lead to Petty's Island, a 292-acre island in the middle of the Delaware River.  Gear up to explore the secluded waterways surrounding Petty's Island and bring your own picnic lunch.  This excursion is best suited for intermediate to advanced paddlers.

Stony Run Winery Wine Tasting
9.4 - 10.16 | Colebrookdale Railroad

Stony Run Winery; an estate winery located in Kempton, PA has crafted the perfect wine and cheese pairing for a delectable mouthwatering experience. Small-batch handcrafted cheeses are paired with specific award-winning Stony Run wines. During this excursion, you will be sampling four pairings then choosing from those 4 wines to enjoy a full glass.

Please note our tasting is for those ages 21+ and is only offered in our Dining, Parlor and Lounge Cars.

Artist Meet & Greet Party with Mandy Martin

Meet Mandy Martin and see her bold colorful paintings of poppies, tropical isles, and abstract scenes. Mandy is headlining our August show which starts on 8/20 in conjunction with Souderton's 3rd Friday event. We'll also be featuring lots of new paintings, pottery, jewelry, gifts, exclusive Souderton greeting cards and t-shirts.

Kayak Excursions: Graffiti Pier

Paddle 6 miles with us to one of Philadelphia's most Instagrammable locations, Graffiti Pier!  Our kayak excursion will present participants with the unique opportunity to see this iconic destination from the water.  You never know what cool design you will spot on your trip.  This excursion is best suited for intermediate to advanced paddlers.   

Autumn Splendor

The Searchlight Series: 50th Anniversary of the Attica Prison Uprising
9.7 | Eastern State Penitentiary

Join our guests Dee Quinn Miller, Heather Ann Thompson, and Aaron Noble for a panel discussion commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Attica Prison Uprising, the subsequent retaking of the prison, and the legacy of Attica half a century later. The Attica Prison Uprising in September 1971 is remembered as a landmark event in the history of civil rights struggles for incarcerated Americans.  It resulted in the deaths of 43 people, including 10 correctional officers, most by New York state police gunfire during the retaking of the facility.

This event is part of Eastern State's ongoing Searchlight Series of events addressing issues in contemporary corrections. The Searchlight Series discussions take place the first Tuesday of every month, free and open to the public. No reservations are required.

Craftsmanship at Glencairn: Five Artists Tour
9.7 - 11.6 | Glencairn Museum

Around every corner in Glencairn, visitors encounter remarkable examples of early 20th-century craftsmanship—in metal, stained glass, mosaic, stone, and wood. Craftsmanship at Glencairn: Five Artists is a guided tour and exhibit that explores the work of five artists who worked at Glencairn, the castle-like home built by Raymond Pitcairn for his family (completed in 1939). Well over one hundred artists, architects, and laborers contributed to the construction of Glencairn, which took more than a decade to complete. Without the efforts of all of them working together, the Pitcairns’ remarkable home could not have become a reality.

Twilight on the River
9.8 - 9.22 | Bridgeport

Something for everyone! Make it a family night out! Twilight on the River is an open-air market located in the center of Bridgeport. A mix of local vendors, food, music, games and nonprofit showcase. Contact us if you are an interested vendor.
