Cherry blossom trees around Montgomery County will reach peak bloom during Easter weekend on March 30, 2024. With 96 miles of trails, Montco has many places to view these and other local trees in bloom. Some of the favorite parks and attractions with spring scenery include Inner Line Drive at Valley Forge National Historical Park, Green Lane Park, the Harriton House in Bryn Mawr, the Historic Trappe - Muhlenberg House in Trappe, and Curtis Arboretum in Jenkintown.

As far as spring activities for outdoor adventurers go, the 18th Annual Valley Forge Revolutionary 5-Mile Run is one of the best. Participants run or walk through the Valley Forge National Historical Park (or join virtually), and proceeds from the event go right back to this site the community holds dear. The event, which takes place on April 21, 2024, will also get you excited for the upcoming National Park Week!
Reconnecting with nature is one of the most fun things to do in spring, and the John James Audubon Center at Mill Grove is the perfect place for just that. The Mill Grove estate is made up of more than 200 acres, with five miles of bird-watching trails and the opportunity for guided bird walks, tours of the property’s historic house, and visits to the museum’s interactive exhibits. Bring your binoculars!

Southeast Pennsylvania’s trout fishing season officially begins on March 31st, adding one more outdoor pursuit to the list of springtime activities in Montco. With four lakes and hundreds of miles of fishable river within the county, there is always new territory for anglers to explore. Some of the favorites include Deep Creek Lake in Green Lane Park and Valley Creek, where big brown trout await.
For a taste of local history, visit the annual Colonial May Fair, which is hosted by the Pottsgrove Manor each year. There will be a maypole, of course, plus a number of springtime activities like dances from the 1700s or traditional crafts and trades from that time period. Since there will be lots of vendors on the property, you’ll have ample opportunity to pick out souvenirs to remember the day by.
