Historic Pennypacker Mills was the home of Pennsylvania Governor Samuel W. Pennypacker (1903-1907) and his family from 1900 to 1916. Home to eight generations of Pennypackers, the mansion is completely furnished with family heirlooms and includes many personal and official document from his term in office. Combined, the site offers a very complete story of the Governor's accomplishments as well as what life was like in the early 20th century. Set on 170 acres of farmland, the site represents a country-gentleman's estate.

Tours of the Pennypacker mansion offer visitors a glimpse of the lives of this well-educated Pennsylvania family, the social and cultural times they lived in, and what servant life was like here. Visitors will tour through two floors of the mansion, including the Galleries where changing exhibits highlight life in the early 20th century. Check our website for the latest exhibit. Visitors will also see the Cook's bedroom and enter the Servant's area where they'll discover what it was like to cook on a coal stove and what modern conveniences were available to both the family and their servants.

Hours of operation: Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am to 4 pm; Sunday: 1 to 4 pm. Closed Mondays and major holidays. Groups of 10 or more are asked to contact the site to book a group tour in advance. Tours take approximately 1 hour and the last tour is held at 3 pm.

The site also has a Museum Shop which sells vintage inspired books, children's toys, decorations, honey from our own hives, and much more.
