Segregated housing in prisons and jails—also commonly known as solitary confinement, restricted housing, or isolation—is a growing fiscal, safety, and human rights concern for corrections departments in the United States.
Eastern State Penitentiary partners with the Vera Institute of Justice to present a panel discussion of correctional leaders, mental health professionals, reform advocates, directly impacted individuals, and other trailblazers who have been leading the way in reducing the use of solitary confinement in U.S. prisons and jails.
