9th Annual World War II Weekend

  • Details

The Military Living History Association will present its 9th Annual WWII Weekend at Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge on May 4-5.  The weekend will offer an exciting step back into the 1940s, with World War II encampments set up throughout the 42-acre Medal of Honor Grove, mock battles, period fashion shows and concerts, and more.

Gates open at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 4, and Sunday, May 5, followed by a flag-raising ceremony complete with a rendition of the National Anthem.

Battle reenactments will take place at 1 and 4 p.m. Saturday and 10:15 a.m. and 1 p.m. Sunday. (They are exciting, but can also be loud and scary so don’t bring your dog.) Other activities include a Fashion Show, performances by the Magnolia Sadies Dancers, and Rich DeSimone performing the hits of Frank Sinatra and other tunes.

At 11 a.m. on both days, Mae Krier, of Bucks County, will speak about her experiences as a Rosie the Riveter during the war. On Sunday, at 9:30 a.m., a WWII Field Church Service will be held.

As 2019 marks the 75th anniversary of D-Day, there will be a special ceremony at 2 p.m. Sunday honoring those who participated in this historic event.

Tickets can be purchased online here.
