With so many parks in Montgomery County it’s hard to pick just one for your picnic. Here are some of the most scenic picnicking spots to make the most of your day. Betzwood Park, located within Valley Forge Park, is tailor made for picnics with multiple tables, bathrooms, shady spots, and grassy areas. It sits right along the Schuylkill River so you can enjoy the views while you eat.

 

Visit Fort Washington State Park for almost 500 acres of  beautiful park. The best spots to picnic in this state park are in the Flourtown and Militia Hill day-use areas. Here you can eat at one of over 300 picnic tables, spot the flowering dogwood trees in the spring, and enjoy the wide-open playfields for spring activities.

 

Lower Perkiomen Valley Park has picnic pavilions, large grassy fields, and scenic views along Perkiomen Creek. Playgrounds will keep restless kids entertained while you enjoy your time in the sun. Upper Schuylkill Valley Park features educational displays of wild animals and a seasonal butterfly garden to check out during your picnic.

For a traditional savory picnic spread, The Grand Fromage in Skippack will satisfy. They offer a wide range of cheeses, dried meats, rustic bread sticks, and Italian style crackers. Choose from their accompaniments including mustards, tapenades, and preserves. Make sure to try their cherry bourbon chipotle spread and blueberry balsamic over some creamy brie. You can also stop by The Cheese Company in Narberth to check out their classic cheeses and dried meats, as well as house-made sandwiches like egg salad, chicken salad, and more.

 

Di Bruno Bros. is the perfect spot to get makings for an elevated picnic. They’ve got every cheese under the sun and plenty of options for cured meats, and unique toppings like tarragon Dijon mustard, caramelized onions, stuffed peppers, Marcona almonds and much more.
