Scattered among the historic attractions and world-class shopping of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania is a host of top-quality public and semi-private golf courses. 

The traveling golfer can take their pick from an extensive list of challenging courses and clubs, offering all skill levels of players a variety of options for teeing it up without breaking the bank. The following courses are just a few of the long list of the 53 courses (that’s 300,000 yards of play) that call Montgomery County home. So give the clubs a spring cleaning, toss the bag in the trunk and get ready to hit the tee.

Jeffersonville Golf Club

The 18-hole, par 70 public courses opened in 1931 and is owned by West Norriton Township. The course is a product of legendary architect Donald J. Ross and in 2017 was named by Golf Digest as one of the top 25 courses in America that give you the 'best bang for your buck.

Greens fees range from $35 to $28 with a cart during the week, and $45 to $33 on weekends and holidays - walking rates are even lower.

Raven's Claw

One of Southeastern Pennsylvania’s premier golf and residential communities, Raven’s Claw Golf Club, located in Pottstown is ranked in the Top 10 in Pennsylvania by Golfweek Magazine.

Carved from the rolling hills and mature woods, the course is laid out with a variety of holes that require shot-making skills and are paired with stunning views. Bentgrass greens and fairways provide a championship-level experience that is playable by golfers of all levels. The track stretches from 4,834 to 6,941 yards.

Depending upon the time of day, rates range from $55 to $30 with a cart during the week. Weekend rates start at $69 to $35. Memberships are available and provide unlimited greens fees along with a 10% discount in the Pro Shop so pick up that hat, pullover or custom club golf polo for a little less. Also, members have a 14-day advance tee time option - as opposed to the seven days allowed the public.

Landis Creek Golf Club

Located not far from Limerick, the Landis Creek Golf Club features well-groomed fairways and greens, that while difficult complement the terrific views in keeping the course an inviting and friendly place for a round.

The 18-hole course traverses 6,019 yards from the back tees for a par 71 and a course rating of 67.9. Designed by William Gordon, the Landis Creek course has been a solid choice for regulars and visitors since 1965. 

Weekday rates for an 18-hole round are $28 with a cart, $20 to walk, and weekend rates are $35 to ride and $27 to walk. Memberships are available.

Worcester Golf Club

A breezy 9-hole tract located in Collegeville, Worcester Golf Club is a perfect mix of holes for both new golfers trying to learn the game, to veterans looking for a fun, fast round. Less than an hour from downtown Philadelphia, the David S. Cavanaugh design plays from a distance of 3,047 yards from the back tees for a par 35.

Designed with a dogleg, a long par-5, and three water holes, the course features bentgrass greens and the club features a practice range for a pre-round warm-up.

Weekday rates are $20 to ride, $12 to walk and weekend/holiday rates are $23 to ride and $15 to walk.

Sweet Water Country Club

Located in Pennsburg, the Sweet Water Country Club is a 9-hole course measuring 2,777 yards from the back tees. With two par-5’s, the course is a par 36, with a pair ponds and a stream traversing the property. They come into play on three of the holes, with the most dramatic being on the par-4, 250-yard, 2nd hole, with the water positioned around an enlarged, island-type green.

Rates range from $14 for a weekday, 9-hole round to $18 on weekends/holidays, and memberships are available.

Westover Golf Club

Originally designed as a private country club, Westover Golf Club in Jeffersonville plays like a private club with a tract that is just the right mix of hills, hazards, and natural obstacles. Featuring scenic fairways, a beautiful clubhouse, and fine cuisine, Westover is a favorite in the area for tournament play, banquets and wedding receptions.

The 18-hole George Fazio layout has a variety of holes, featuring level to rolling landing areas on some fairways, and hilly in others.  The course also has several water hazards and bunkers that come into, while some fairways are open and some are tree-lined. The greens are average in speed and size.

Weekday rates are $30 to ride and $20 to walk, and on weekends/holidays, it is a $40 fee to ride and $30 to walk.
