By Guest Blogger Brooke H. Hersh, Marketing Coordinator, King of Prussia District
The second annual King of Prussia Beerfest gathers in one convenient location the chance to sample the craftsmanship of more than 50 brewers and their 100-plus beers. As a "heads" up, this year also includes a Thursday happy hour, celebrity judges and a trip raffle.
Brainstorm of the King of Prussia District (KOP-BID), a not-for-profit organization that promotes business in King of Prussia, Beerfest is not just an event that attracts guests from all around the region and beyond to KOP, it is also a fundraiser for KOP-BID to complete various projects throughout the community. For example, proceeds have funded the colorful flowers in our formerly cement-filled medians and supported placement of helpful signage.
Happy hour fans won't want to miss the newest addition to Beerfest, the Donnerstag: Happy Hour. Bring your favorite clients, co-workers or a date to the best happy hour you'll ever experience, Thursday, October 3. Indulge in hours of noshing as KOP's finest restaurants create inspired dishes paired perfectly with local craft beers: ahi tuna cones, filet sandwiches, sushi, chicken saltimbocca and more. Decadent desserts, including cupcakes and beer floats, will tempt your sweet tooth, while Chaddsford Winery and Philadelphia Distilling mix up a round of beer-infused cocktails.
And what happy hour would be complete without live music? The Donnerstag attendees will swing and sway to the Hoppin' John Orchestra, setting the mood with the "foot stompin', soul-fried brass" of legit N'awlins jazz. The awesome party is topped off with a complimentary cigar for each guest, courtesy of John Hay Cigars.
If Thursday doesn't work for you (darn those early Friday morning meetings), Saturday, October 5, is the big kahuna: the largest outdoor beer festival in suburban Philadelphia.
Two sessions are available, tapping you into nonstop food, fun and of course plenty of the centerpiece beverage. Sample more than 100 different beers from more than 50 craft and international brewers in two grand tents. Let the delicious aromas from KOP dining favorites - California Pizza Kitchen, Maggiano's, Michael's Deli, Tony Luke's and more - lure you into our Central Beer Garden, sponsored by the Valley Forge Convention and Visitors Bureau. Live music on two stages will keep each tent rocking all day. And be sure to capture the fun at one of our many photo-ops.
So, if you're ready for this can't-miss party, get your red-hot tickets before they sell-out. Discounts are available for group purchases and designated driver tickets are available for $10 for Saturday sessions. Free shuttle service from the Norristown Transportation Center and the Gulph Mills Station is available on a continuous loop Saturday, October 5, thanks to King Limousine and Transportation Service; check the schedule for details.
And while you're here, stay awhile! King of Prussia hotels have great rates just for our Beerfest guests, so you can really enjoy yourself and then explore all we have to offer the following day. Perhaps a morning walk on the Perkiomen Trail, a test of your luck at the Valley Forge Casino Resort or a shop til' you drop day at the King of Prussia Mall?
Cheers!
