The time-honored traditions of Thanksgiving begin with a parade and end with a handsome feast. But after that, the onset of the holiday shopping season immediately beckons.

Montgomery County, Pa., retailers are all set to ensure that this Black Friday, the shopping is nothing but sweetness and light.

  • King of Prussia Mall The area's big kahuna shopping-wise is King of Prussia Mall, whose 400 stores open at 6p.m. on Thanksgiving Day and remain open until midnight. On the 28th, the mall opens again at 6 a.m. and remains in full-holiday-cheer mode until 10 p.m.
  • Shoppers interested in pulling an all-nighter can go to Philadelphia Premium Outlets, where, once the sales and promotions begin at 6 p.m. on November 27, there's no stopping until 10p.m. on Black Friday night.
  • The doors at Plymouth Meeting Mall swing open at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, welcoming gift-seekers who have fortified themselves with turkey and cranberry sauce. The mall's closing time is midnight; however a mere handful of hours later - 5 a.m. - it jumps to life again.
  • Willow Grove MallThe merry-go-round theming of Willow Grove Park Mall takes on an extra dose of festiveness during the holiday season. At the time of its 6 p.m. opening on Thanksgiving, the halls should be full of color and music, and they will remain that way straight through until 10p.m. on Black Friday itself.
  • Montgomery Mall just got a major spruce-up that includes a new kid-friendly play zone. The shopping hours for the onset of the gift-buying season are generous enough to not only pick up the perfect gifts but also take in the new look: Thanksgiving Day, 6 p.m. to 1 a.m.; Black Friday, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • The specialty stores within Suburban Square are the perfect place to find that one-of-a-kind gift for a one-of-a-kind recipient. Anchor-retailer Macy's is open for business from 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day to 6 a.m. on Black Friday. It then reopens - with the rest of the mall - from 10 a.m. to 6p.m.
  • Green Wolf's Village BarnGreen Wolf's Village Barn Shoppes, which offers six unique stores under one roof in Skippack Village, is closed Thanksgiving Day, but its owners, like those of most of its neighboring businesses, will be ready for the holiday trade by 10 a.m. on Black Friday. Gift-getters should plan to spend some time wandering the treasures here, remaining until after dark for the 6 p.m. tree lighting on November 28.
  • The retailers at Providence Town Center, Collegeville, set their own holiday hours, so availability will vary. Charming Charlie, for example, is open from 6 p.m. Thanksgiving evening to 1 a.m. Black Friday morning. After a brief breather, it re-opens at 8 a.m. Wegman's supermarket alters its 24-hour-operating policy, closing Thanksgiving at 5 p.m. and welcoming shoppers back on Black Friday at 7 a.m. Want a break at while browsing at Providence Town?
