MONTCO'S BEST ICE CREAM
Ice Cream, Custard and Frozen Yogurt

Vanilla, chocolate, mint chocolate chip, rocky road. We all have our favorite ice cream, and in Montgomery County, everyone has their favorite place to get it, too. Here are a few of our favorite places for a frozen treat in Valley Forge and Montgomery County.

MERRYMEAD FARM
2222 S Valley Forge Rd
Lansdale

Merrymead Farm

The bevy of bovines who reside at Merrymead Farm in Lansdale are milked onsite twice a day, and kids can watch the process. Then, it's time to dig into the resulting ice cream, with a stand-out flavor being Moose Trail, loaded with chocolate chunks and peanut butter cups.

FREDDY HILL FARMS
1440 Sumneytown Pk
Lansdale

A full-fledged, family-friendly outing - plus ice cream - is part of the appeal of Freddy Hill Farms in Lansdale. Kids can visit farm animals, play mini-golf or take a few swings in the batting cages. Then it's a tough decision on which hand-dipped masterpiece to choose. Cream of the crop flavors include Key Lime Pie, Fluffernutter, S'Mores and Strawberry Cheesecake.

DREAMS ICE CREAM FACTORY
33 E Glenside Ave
Glenside

Dreams Ice Cream Factory in Glenside is, indeed, a factory in that it produces its dreamy ice creams onsite. But rather than rely on automated, mass-production methods, each gallon is hand-crafted with a constant eye on taste and quality. Unique flavors like Maple Walnut and Cotton Candy are popular, but for frozen dessert lovers already pining for the fall, where else can you get Pumpkin-flavored ice cream in June, July and August?

SULOMAN'S DAIRY
2782 Leidy Rd
Gilbertsville

Once you've finished your cone or cup at Suloman's Dairy in Gilbertsville, take your small one by the hand and visit the ducks at the pond. If you've got a pocketful of stale bread, you will be very popular. In addition to ice creams of all varieties, Suloman's is one of the few places we know of that still makes malted milk, just like they did at the soda fountains of the 1940s and 1950s.

PETRUCCI'S ICE CREAM
670 N. Hederson Rd
King of Prussia

Petrucci's Ice Cream

Need help finding Petrucci's Ice Cream in King of Prussia? Keep your eyes peeled for the giant wooden chicken by the roadside. The frosty desserts (ice cream, gelati and water ice in numerous flavors and combinations) are perfect for cooling down on a hot summer night, as are the frozen, chocolate-covered bananas.

NELSON'S ICE CREAM STORE
627 Main St
Royersford

Sometimes, the ice cream palate yearns for something more than just the traditional vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. The Nelson's Ice Cream Store in Royersford is the local go-to source for the likes of Butter Brickle, which can be difficult to find. Nelson's is a two-year-in-a-row winner of the Best Ice Cream Shop in Montgomery County award.

SWIRLED PEACE
711 W Main St
Lansdale

Swirled Peace in Lansdale is a place of rich indulgence. The menu includes a wide variety of specialty coffees, but for those looking for something cooler, the frozen yogurt is the way to go. The Dulce de Leche, New York Cheesecake and Tahitian Vanilla are heavenly.

VILLAGE TREATS
236 Haverford Ave
Narberth

The ice cream sandwich is raised to an art form by Village Treats in Narberth. Try the traditional Chocolate Chip version, or go a little wilder, in which scoops of Nutella or Chocolate Salted Peanut ice cream are squashed deliciously between two cookies.

SKIPPACK SWEET SPOT
4019 W Skippack Pk
Skippack

Skippack Sweet Spot

When it comes to sweet treats, sometimes, it's tough to please everyone. Mom may enjoy gelato while dad wants classic candies. One child wants chocolate-covered pretzels, while her sibling is aching for cookies. The Skippack Sweet Spot in Skippack Village has all this and more. The front porch - it'll remind you of gramma's - is a great spot to enjoy whatever you select.

FROSTY FALLS
96 Dekalb St
Bridgeport

Two summery treats - ice cream and funnel cake - come together in a unique combination, the Funnel Cake Sundae, at Frosty Falls in Bridgeport. Other specialties of the house include gelati, floats, milkshakes and water ice.

SCOOPS
515 Fayette St #B
Conshohocken

Visitors to Conshohocken who want to get their ice cream where the locals lap it up will do well to visit Scoops. The traditional flavors are to die for, but the real magic happens with specialties like Coconut Almond Joy and Salted Caramel Soft Pretzel.

ZWAHLEN'S ICE CREAM & CHOCOLATE
670 Shannondell Blvd
Audubon

We know of only one ice cream parlor in the area scooping up a flavor called Monkey Business. This aptly named indulgence is a serving of banana ice cream that has been liberally infused with walnuts and chocolate chunks. Where is it available? Zwahlen's Ice Cream & Chocolate in Audubon.

CHESTER SPRINGS CREAMERY
521 E. Uwchlan Ave
Chester Springs

Chester Springs Creamery

At Milky Way Farm in neighboring Chester County, they are making all of the ice cream using fresh milk from their own farm. The Chester Springs Creamery is the place to try all 35 flavors including Robin's Cinnamon Ribbon, Ada's Amaretto Pear Sorbet and Tara's Tiramisu.
