What’s New in Valley Forge
Valley Forge Casino Resort is currently under construction on the lower level of the Valley Forge Convention Center in King of Prussia. The $100 million-plus project, set to open in the spring, will feature a 40,000-square-foot gaming floor with 50 table games, 600 slot machines, three micro restaurants and a new nightclub.
More formal dining will be featured upstairs. Patrons can gamble as long as they spend the night at the resort or spend at least $10 at one of the Convention Center’s restaurants or retail shops.
King of Prussia Mall, the nation’s largest retail shopping complex, with 400 shops and 40 restaurants, will be even larger next fall. It is redeveloping 122,000 square feet in the Plaza to bring in 10 new stores on two levels, as well as a new grand entrance on Mall Boulevard.
The 147-room Hotel Sierra, directly across from the King of Prussia Mall, is set to open on November 14. The five-story upscale hotel will feature suites with flat panel televisions and MP3 players; 3,200-square-feet of event space; a 24-hour onsite market; an alfresco patio, fire pit and grilling space; a fitness center and more. “Green” features include floor and wall framing fashioned from wood byproducts, drywall that contains recycled material, high-efficiency windows and a white roof that reflects light rather than absorbs it. The hotel, a Hyatt property, will be rebranded Hyatt House in the coming months, as will the Hyatt Summerfield Suites in Plymouth Meeting.
The Sheraton Valley Forge Hotel on Gulph Road in King of Prussia, the former Clarion Hotel Park Ridge, is slated to open June 2012.
