The Great Outdoors
Summer is a time to fling those doors open and breathe deep. Take advantage of the following outside activities:
• Canoe down the Perkiomen Creek at the The John James Audubon Center at Mill Grove Through August 23: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and every other Saturday (times vary). Instructions and guides are included in the $15 price per person
• Encounter nature on a whole new level at Norristown Farm Park and Lorimer Park. Programming is especially kid friendly, focusing on birds (July 6), insects (July 13), ladybugs (July 14), fish (July 27), butterflies (August 2), dragonflies (August 17), and nighttime mammals (August 24)
• Rent a bike and pedal your way through Valley Forge National Historical Park. Tours are available July 5 through August 30: Saturdays at 10:30 a.m.
• Spend a day at one of our many community parks. Friday nights frequently include free outdoor movies. And at Ringing Rocks Park in Pottstown, kids can make music with a mallet; through a quirk of geologic magic, the rocks produce tones when they're hit
