HOLIDAYS IN NORRISTOWN
Celebrations in the County Seat
When carolers sing "...it's Christmas time in the city..." they reflect the good-natured hustle and bustle associated with an urban area's celebration of the holidays. That sense of festivity runs throughout Norristown this time of year.
November 12 through December 13
This performance encompasses contemporary dance, gospel favorites, full-force choral singing and passionate storytelling. Once Black Nativity closes, it is replaced (December 18 to 20), with The Santaland Diaries, based on the hilarious seasonal recollections of David Sedaris.
BRUNCH WITH SANTA
December 5 - 20
Elmwood Park Zoo
This Norristown tradition is so popular that it often sells out. Every Saturday and Sunday from December 5 through 20, visitors to the zoo can join the Jolly Elf for a festive brunch. The zoo's additional embrace of the season includes a decorated wreath contest, a Christmas tree sale, reindeer photos and a Hanukkah party.
Victory Church, Audubon
The Norristown Chorale Christmas Concert is a masterful evening of both secular and sacred selections. Their version of "Silent Night" is sung in English, German, Korean, Spanish and Zulu. An encore concert takes place at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, King of Prussia (December 8, 7:30 p.m.).
HOLIDAY HOUSE TOUR
The Norristown Garden Club leads its 66th annual tour of some of the most spectacularly decorated homes in the area. Proceeds support student scholarships in agriculture.
