REPTILES AND AMPHIBIANS IN YOUR BACKYARD
Lower Perkiomen Valley Park
Amphibian and reptile expert Kyle Loucks shares his knowledge of species in the area at Lower Perkiomen Park. The first half of the day entails an interactive presentation from Mr. Loucks. After lunch, test your new knowledge by going on a directed tour of the Perkiomen Trail. Make sure to dress appropriately and be ready to captivate your friends with your newly acquired knowledge.
AMBLER BIKE RACE
The Ambler Bike Race returns to streets of downtown Ambler for the second time on August 13. Kids are welcome to take part, as well, with divisions for ages 4-6, 7-9, and 10-14.
HISTORY ADVENTURES IN SUMMER
Montgomery County has almost countless connections with the founding of the U.S. In 1777, for example, General George Washington encamped at Pennypacker Mill before the Battle of Germantown. To highlight Montgomery County's role in our quest for liberty, members of the 11th PA Regiment demonstrate the activities and experiences of the Colonial period. From herbal medicine, military marching and chores, learn what was it truly was like to be in the Continental Army.
PHILADELPHIA FOLK FESTIVAL
Old Pool Farm
This modern-day folk version of Woodstock takes over the Old Pool Farm yet again. The Philadelphia Folk Fest is the longest continuously running outdoor musical festival of its kind in the U.S. The 40-acres of farmland fills with more than just music. Experience circus-like events such as puppet shows, juggling and acrobatics. To fully engulf in the experience, to enjoy the soothing sounds of folk music with 6,500 other people.
Upper Schuylkill Valley Park
The evolution of butterflies is something to admire. People from the Upper Schuylkill Valley Park are bringing in two experts from Marvelous Monarchs. Hear about how to raise, tag and feed butterflies. There will be activities for the kids, and if the weather prohibits, the park will be releasing tagged monarchs so they can begin migration southward.
UKRAINIAN FOLK FESTIVAL
Ukrainian American Sport Center
Experience a day of entertainment and culture at the 25th annual Ukrainian Folk Festival. Enjoy amazing performances, including traditional dances and musical performances. Get a taste of eastern Europe when you sample pierogies, holputsi and homemade baked goods, and take home a piece of folk art from the crafts market. Kids will love the games and fun area.
