Valley Forge Convention and Visitors Bureau Launches Blog
Coverage of Montgomery County Tourism to Fill the Gap between
140-Character Twitter Posts and Feature Stories

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. - The enlisted men that camped in Valley Forge in the winter of 1777-1778 reportedly conveyed news to home by way of letters written with "pencils" they crafted by salvaging lead musket shot, warming it over a fire and shaping them into crude writing implements.

Fortunately, communication techniques have improved since then.

The Valley Forge Convention and Visitors Bureau - already savvy with social media outlets such as Facebook, LinkedIN, Pinterest, Twitter, and Instagram - is augmenting its participation in those online communities with a blog.

Entitled "The Pursuit," the blog offers the Bureau the chance to highlight the abundance of leisure, sporting, recreational, historical and cultural opportunities throughout Montgomery County. Beyond a simple catalog listing of events and sites, all of which are available from the Bureau's website, "The Pursuit" offers more depth on what the county has to offer, including tips, hints and suggestions on how to maximize your enjoyment of the area's many treasures.

"Montgomery County is certainly multi-faceted," says Bureau President Bill Fitzgerald, "so it makes sense to use a variety of communications vehicles to cover it. We are eager for The Pursuit to become a useful go-to place, not so much to find out what's going on but to discover how to get the most out of a visit."

The scope of "The Pursuit" has been designed to cover the entire county, from the eastern-most corners that include Bala Cynwyd and Willow Grove to the western neighborhoods of Pottstown and Green Lane. "Visitors to our area flock to King of Prussia and Valley Forge, and it's easy to understand those sections of Montgomery County for their entertainment, shopping and historical draws," comments Fitzgerald. "But The Pursuit will enable us to cover the county in its entirety, in ways that are fresh, engaging and exciting."

Find "The Pursuit" is available online at ThePursuit.valleyforge.org.
