Despite Governmental Shutdown, Montgomery County, Pa., Still Welcoming Visitors

Tourism Bureau Office Prepared to Act as Temporary Visitors Center

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. - History buffs, fall vacationers and shutterbugs out to capture the stunning fall foliage need not change their plans to visit Montgomery County, Pa., according to the Valley Forge Convention and Visitors Bureau. Apart from Valley Forge National Historical Park, which is now closed, the area has numerous other options to engage visitors.

For example, although Valley Forge was the site of Washington's pivotal 1777-1778 winter encampment, it was not the only local site at which the troops engaged in a strategic huddle. Nearby Skippack Village, for example, was also a resting place for Washington and the Continental Army, offering an alternative to Revolutionary War enthusiasts currently in Montgomery County - or soon to arrive here seeking that kind of experience.

As a service to both visitors and residents seeking Montgomery County alternatives, the Bureau has launched a special web page of options. In addition, its office, located 1000 First Avenue, Suite 101, King of Prussia, Pa., is serving as an adjunct Visitor Center until Valley Forge Park reopens. The office is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Prospective visitors may also call 1-888-847-4883.

"We want to remind visitors and residents of the county and beyond that our other tourism partners are open and ready to serve the public. The County has numerous destinations of historical, cultural and natural significance, and we look forward to continuing to welcome tourists to our many offerings," said Valley Forge Convention and Visitors Bureau president Bill Fitzgerald.
